This is what you always wanted to do with you wife's best crystal. Play with water and fountain pen ink. I was not that happy the results late last night so I played around with the shot in photoshop. This is my result. I shot the original subject against a mosaic glass background which gives that ghost effect in the background. I was a bit tired at midnight when I finished but I think I got the effect.
John (300m) > Crystal Ink Bottle
I am sharing a shot I took for another challenge. I came home last night to discover another loss from the lightning, my main backup external drive is in/out causing problems. Spent 1.5 hrs on the line with tech support ot identify the problem, I was having boot issues. Well the short is the drive is not trustworthy and all my 2004-2008 files are on here :( That is why Lightroom kept locking up and my computer would hangup. I lost 2 days worth of pictures, all the ones I did yesterday and the day before. I have the raw files but all the processing is gone.. I did one for today, but I was not happy with the shot and was tired. I wanted a non flower shot so vs the ones I took so here is one I took for the office supplies challenge.

This is a crystal ink bottle that I was changing ink in. I write with fountain pens so I use this to keep my ink on my desk. Right behind my digitizer and phone.
Have a great day Folks!

John (300m) > Nov 23: Toxic Cocktail
Mystery drink. Can you guess what I did here. I was talking with Hillary yesterday and she told me to post this and see if folks can guess this. OK Hillary here is the shot, can you guess? I know one person knows as they gave me the base idea :) Happy Sunday. I will post the original to my contenders gallery tomorrow

My THANKS to everyone who guessed. Peptp Bismol inverted in PS. The original shot is in my DP contenders gallery Pepto Thanks for the comments and guesses!
John (300m) > Nov 16: Reflections II
This is the mate shot to the one I took yesterday. This will give you a better idea of the material I used to make the reflections. I used a single Compact Fluorescent on the right side bounced into a white reflector disk. I placed the Crystal glass on black foam core. On the back wall I placed a piece of Mylar foil wrapping paper. The light was reflected into this paper and into the veins of the crystal. I hand held another piece of white foam core as a reflector to add light to the front of the glass. No polarizer in these shots as I wanted the refraction's from the glass in the picture. This and a timed exposure in manual using spot metering.
Thanks for all the great comments on the glass shot. Fighting a migraine again today, lost most of yesterday with one and today does not look better. I hope to be able to go out and get some shots today as the weather has finally stopped raining.
John (300m) > Nov 15: Reflections of??
I setup a studio shot yesterday to do something totally different; when I discovered this shot. I noticed the reflections of this in the glass and I thought it was really cool and I totally like the shot! I did several in varying positions and I liked this the best.

Today's question, can you guess at what I did? Hint this is a crystal glass stem. I will post a full shot tomorrow so you can see what I did. Enjoy the reflections, I did!
