John (300m) > Oct 10: A Rose is a Rose
I was doing some chores in the yard yesterday AM when I saw this bloom on our rose bush. Like the others I figure this is maybe my last of the year. I see 2 more buds, but I am not hopeful. I like the way the light from the overcast sky was playing on this so I went and got my camera and took several shots hand held before I went back to my chores. I really liked this shot best of the group. It's the weekend, Enjoy!!
John (300m) > Oct 6: Blazing colors
I went for my walk yesterday and I saw a few items of interest to photograph. i decided to be different and carry the macro for a different perspective. I was caught in some precarious positions yesterday by folks. This shot I spotted walking around a corner. I really liked what the sunlight did in backlighting this shot. It was however a bit difficult to get as the wind was blowing and I had to raise the ISO to even capture the shot. I was leaning against one of the 6" cannons in front of the museum to capture this shot to get a stable platform. The 6" are small and mounted on concrete platforms next to this tree. I had 1 leg on the platform the other on the ground :)
Enjoy and have a good day
John (300m) > Oct 5: Surrender Field
I went out to Yorktown yesterday looking for something different and possiably some fall colors. As you can see from the shot we do not have a lot of color yet. It still pretty warm here with the evenings in the low 60's to high 50's. It needs to get a little cooler at the end of the month for the leaves to start changing and show us some color. I set the camera up in the lot here a the field as I like the view and the conditions were great. The sky was so clear and blue that it made a great shot with out any additional work. 4 shot panoramic with the brown grass in foreground cropped. I put up two other fall color shots here FallSigh, it's Monday Have a good week everyone
John (300m) > House I saw on the way home lit for halloween
John (300m) > Oct 4: Panoramic Sunset on the River
I was looking to do a panoramic shot today and wondered where to take my shots. I waited late in the day so I decide to go to on of my favorite spots to catch sunsets and see what would pan out. The day was nice but the gnats ate me up shooting these shots. This is a 30 shot HDR converted into a panoramic and then shrunk to fit. Original was right at 300M. The only problem with taking multi pano's is the time it takes to process on this machine. I was up till midnight finishing this shot for today.
Here is an alternate Halloween theme shot for the day halloween
Enjoy the remainder of the weekend
To answer the questions on the house. No it is not mine, we saw this on the way home from the river and I stopped to take the shot.
John (300m) > Some type of bloom I say while out walking.
John (300m) > butterfly having lunch
John (300m) > Oct 3: Building Artistic Impression
I went for a walk yesterday at lunch took several picture but nothing really jumped as POD. I have a few others I will put up when we come back from the kittens vet checkup. I liked this shot for it's range of color tones and textures so I went into PS to see what I could accomplish that was in the Oct colorful theme. This is my impression of that for today. This is a duplex residence on the post.
John (300m) > Oct 2: The stories I could tell!
I did not get much time yesterday at lunch due to meetings I was in and had to attend so I mad a short loop just to get some air. I took my camera and I saw the old trees we have on Post and their shapes intrigued me. I shot a few when I saw this shot and the tree called to me. I could see where many a person has sat on this branch and swung, talked and climbed this old majestic Oak. The conditions were great as the sky was very blue and clear. the temps were very mild and the breeze was nice. I could tell where many a person had spent time on the bend in this tree like I wanted to do vs going back to work. The stories this tree could tell if it could talk. the tree is over 125 years old. Happy Friday!
