John (300m) > butterfly leaf
I captured this backlit butterfly leaf while out in Yorktown on the battlefield. The majestic feeling I got when I saw this leag over the old dam works on Wormley Creek added to the shot. I dropped the f/stop to f/4.0 and fired off a couple of shots. Hope you enjoy this as much as I do. Sent another fall scene to my Current Projects/others folder

John (300m) > Oct 29: Expressions in Black & White
I did a short walk yesterday at lunch. It was cold and all I had was a thin windbreaker. Guess old man winter had to visit sooner or later :) While walking I saw this leaf on my way back and I liked the way it sat in the puddle and the wind was blowing it around the puddle in the parking lot. I really liked the texture and feel of the shot and I wanted to do something with this shot. I went into PS and just started adjusting different positions on the black & white conversion to I found what my vision said was there. The new adjusting tool in CS4 is nice, like in LR so adjusting the tone in 1 spot was a lot easier to do. I did save my thoughts in the note area with the note tool after a hint on how it worked, thanks K. I did do a texture shot that I got the idea from Lyndon on and I have placed the shot here. Texture Have a great day everyone.

John (300m) > Oct 6: Blazing colors
I went for my walk yesterday and I saw a few items of interest to photograph. i decided to be different and carry the macro for a different perspective. I was caught in some precarious positions yesterday by folks. This shot I spotted walking around a corner. I really liked what the sunlight did in backlighting this shot. It was however a bit difficult to get as the wind was blowing and I had to raise the ISO to even capture the shot. I was leaning against one of the 6" cannons in front of the museum to capture this shot to get a stable platform. The 6" are small and mounted on concrete platforms next to this tree. I had 1 leg on the platform the other on the ground :)
Enjoy and have a good day

John (300m) > May 2: Leaf:
It was windy here last evening when I was doing the POD and we found this bunch of leaves on the back deck when we out to get something. THought I could make something of this so I brought it in to try. Very late last night I had an idea when taking shots and this the result.
This is not a crop, but a full shot with my macro. I lit the leave with one SB200 flash (small) from the rear at a 45 degree angle to the leave to get this effect. The veining on the rear popped with this lighting.
