John (300m) > Nov 26: Patterns in the sky
I captured this while out walking. I was looking for something to shoot and this caught my eye. I was really impressed with the patterns in the sky and all the trails they made. I had been testing out my new B&W circular polarizer that I plan to take on my trip next week. The fit and quality is considerably better than my old one. I converted this shot to B&W in PS, and adjusted the sliders to get the effect I was looking for. I exposed for the sky and not the buildings in this shot as I was not interested in the butler buildings in the foreground.
John (300m) > Nov 20: Lines
I took this shot while walking and I liked what I saw. I was captivated by the lines in the shot. I converted this to B&W in PS to get the look I wanted and that was it. I just liked this shot and the way it looked. Happy Thursday
John (300m) > Nov 13: Stonework Detail
I captured this yesterday on my walk at lunch. I had never noticed the rain detail of the stonework around the window . This keeps the rain from coming in the window. The doors at the bottom open to let out the water. I noticed this as one of the windows has the door stuck open, I liked this stone work detail. The shadow at the top of the window is dirt. The windows are really that dirty.
John (300m) > Oct 28: Hello, can I help you?
I caught this little guy on my lunch walk as I was rounding the corner back to the building. He was in the ground checking out the wares in the area. He was a bit animated when I grabbed the shot as he ran up his tree. I did the conversion to B&W on this shot. I liked the textures and contrast of the result. Have a good day
John (300m) > Oct 23: Morning on the Bay
I captured this shot on the way into work. The picture caught my eye and I turned around and drove back to this location to capture the shot. I was not dressed for the weather but I stood there anyway and took shots for 20 min. This is a 30 sec exposure shot on the bay with my remote trigger. Temps had dropped from the 60's to 48 with the wind blowing off the water at 15-20. I could hear the wind howling through the masts. A couple of masts on the left side you can see the blur hence movement in these masts. The line in background is the interstate that is leading to the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel. Tunnel over to Norfolk. Have a great day
John (300m) > Oct 17: Contrasting Colors
I saw this on my walk yesterday at lunch. I was in a bit of a daze and funk as that was how the day was going. Tired cause I stayed up to late again and tired as I was very busy. I took a bunch of shot, but really had no idea for pictures. Same area a lot and you miss things or have seen to much of that thing. I spotted this down by the fishing boats, one of the trees is actually showing color! I snapped about 6 shots and moved on back to work happy I had something I thought was worth wild. I cannot wait for all the other trees to change to usable colors beside brown.
Happy Friday Folks!
John (300m) > Oct 9: Lincoln Gun
It was a very busy day for me with a lot to do during the day. I was in meeting and handling suspenses till I left work. I never got a chance to go out at lunch and ate while working a report. I was fried when I came home so I decided to use this shot from yesterday as my POD. I wanted to do something with this gun that sits in the park/parade field behind my office. This is a 15" Lincoln gun that was used in the civil was era. These were placed on the casemate walls to protect and defend the installation. The 15" shell is in front of the gun. I played around in PS a bit with the shot and ended up using the NIK Color Effects Pro on the shot after I did one in B&W. This is the solorazation effect on a blurred background. Happy Friday!
John (300m) > Oct 8: Pot - o- Gold
I was able to capture this shot on my walk yesterday afternoon. I had another banner day with a lot of shot so it was had deciding which picture for POD. I decided on this pot of flowers as I liked the colors and the lattice reflection on the brickwork wall. I liked the interplay and worked hard to keep it in the shot. Thanks to everyone for the comments on yesterday's picture! I was super busy at work and I will catchup ASAP
