John (300m) > Sunset Silhouette
Taken in an area that was hit hard with Ida. I bike ride in this area and was scoping out my riding path to see if we could go down through here. This is a low lying area and floods. To drive yes, ride a road bike no. To much sand and debris still on the roads. But this sunset was very nice and the conversation I had with the folks in the house on the left was very nice. There house was elevated and no damage, but getting out with the high water was very hard. You get these wonderful shots of sunsets but at a price for living so close to the water.
Have a great weekend
John (300m) > Nov 26: Patterns in the sky
I captured this while out walking. I was looking for something to shoot and this caught my eye. I was really impressed with the patterns in the sky and all the trails they made. I had been testing out my new B&W circular polarizer that I plan to take on my trip next week. The fit and quality is considerably better than my old one. I converted this shot to B&W in PS, and adjusted the sliders to get the effect I was looking for. I exposed for the sky and not the buildings in this shot as I was not interested in the butler buildings in the foreground.
John (300m) > Nov 12: The Silhouette
I captured this tree for a shot I was thinking of as I liked the way it looked and the statement it made against the blue sky. I exposed for the sky using spot metering and took the shot. The only processing is to raise the black threshold a little and to dodge the bottom where a car's shiny back end was showing. Have a good day
John (300m) > August 22: Breaking colors of the new day
I saw this scene when I pulled into the moat to go to my building at work in the morning. I saw the breaking colors and the silhouettes. I pulled my car into the lot, grabbed my camera and hustled back to this spot to get the shot. I set the f/stop where I wanted it and raised the ISO till I could hand hold the shot and I was pleased with the results. I took 4 from various angles before the sun and the colors changed. I did have to goto work :) I even added the sig using the brush tool on the sunset. I am impressed as I wrote my sig to where you can actually ready my name, LOL

Well folks we are off to the beach today, not sure about net access. At a min I will try to find an internet cafe so I can upload once or twice. I will catchup with comments when I can. My family and I will raise a toast to you all when we do our fancy dinner on the bay one night. Have a great week. John, aka 300m JMJStudios
John (300m) > July 12: Simplicity
We went out to the James RIver Bridge to capture a sunset from a different vantage point. The sunset looked good till 15 min before set when the sun went behind a bank of clouds. The sky had some moderate color, but no sun. Very cloudy. This is a shot I took of my daughter after she lost interest in taking pictures of the listless sky walking along the waters edge looking for shell. I converted the shot to B&W and was pleased wit the results. I like the simplicity of the shot and the fact that the girl is my daughter in the shot
Here is a link to the alt shot I had for today, a night shot along the james river. It would be to the left of this shot Alt DP Choice This was a timed shot using my new RRD ball head
