John (300m) > Holed Tree
I saw this tree while out on Surrender Field and I walked into the woods to get a better shot. The sun was going down and the light was almost gone so I jumped the ISO up and spot metered on the tree. These holes were everywhere on the tree. Not really sure what they were, but very different. It figures too that when I walked in I would have the wrong lens on the camera. I did the best I could with the shot as the light was gone when I finished. This was the best of the lot I took. Not an HDR, just metered for the dark area and blew out the sky.
Have a great day
John (300m) > The old tree
Captured in Yorktown this tree has been there for years. I used the ultrawide on this shot and was inches way from the tree capturing this picture in the early morning light. I even rolled over my tripod in the process. I was wondering what was so lumpy in my back. I liked the angle and the textures of this old tree.

have a good day
John (300m) > Ever Vigilant
Captured on the way to a photo shoot. I saw this on my way into a shot and had to turn around to go back and capture this scene. This is 30 min before sunrise, just starting to get some color in the sky. Scene is the Yorktown Battlefield entrance , crop due to the street signs on the colonial parkway I was on looked a bit ugly in the shot. I took several before I moved on to my next location. Cannon is on silent watch.

Have a good day everyone
John (300m) > Tree Challenge shot.
This is one of several I took for a challenge on trees.
John (300m) > Tree at the fort.
John (300m) > Big Oak
This is a shot of one of the 100+ year old oaks inside the moat at work. I captured this while out walking and I liked the form and shape of the tree. I converted the shot to B&W to get the look and the effect I was after. Have a great weekend folks
John (300m) > The Tree Challenge...04/20/09
The Challenge:Show us your interpretation of "Tree."
The Participants: Kre8ive, The Curious Camel, Karina, Creative Deviance, Lady Kate, Johnloguk, FotoEffects, Hillary, and myself.
The Result: As I lay underneath this tree taking this shoot I was thinking I wanted to try something different for this challenge. Something I would think of that would be different and creative. I tried may a shot that day and evening before I came upon this setup that I was happy with. I thought this was totally different and challenging to come up with so you have my entry. Have a great day.
John (300m) > Nov 12: The Silhouette
I captured this tree for a shot I was thinking of as I liked the way it looked and the statement it made against the blue sky. I exposed for the sky using spot metering and took the shot. The only processing is to raise the black threshold a little and to dodge the bottom where a car's shiny back end was showing. Have a good day
John (300m) > Oct 28: Hello, can I help you?
I caught this little guy on my lunch walk as I was rounding the corner back to the building. He was in the ground checking out the wares in the area. He was a bit animated when I grabbed the shot as he ran up his tree. I did the conversion to B&W on this shot. I liked the textures and contrast of the result. Have a good day
