300m > July 7: A prickly subject This little item is the bane of walkers, joggers, hikers and kite flyers who use the grass fields in southeast VA and northeast NC. This much of the area I know for a fact as I run into them all the time. Like yesterday after a few shots I has them in the backside, shoes and my hand. These little guys are sand burs. I hate them with a passion as they are painful and I do not always see them before I step or what ever. I saw these on top of the moat walk yesterday and took a few shots. This is a focus stack of 3 shot in the wind so there is a bit of blur/fuzz around one of the spikes caused by the stacking of shots. They or I had moved in the process of the shot. I was windy. I lost a lot of shots yesterday due to the wind and not able to keep things in sharp focus. Thanks to everyone on the comments on Mr Spidey from yesterday. I think the best shot would have been the look on my face when I realized that the spider was on the camera looking at me not the other way around :) Have a great day
300m > May 16: Soft view I took this capture this afternoon after some sun came out. Flower is in our side yard. The black spot is an ant crawling around the center of the flower. I shot at the lower f-stop on the macro to get just a small area of the center and a bit of the pedal in focus. The flower is a soft yellow with a pink outer leaf behind. About the size of a nickel or 3 CM in diameter. Columbine is the name of the plant, thanks Gail. EXIF D200, 105mm VR handled, manual focus ISO 160 1/60 sec f/6.3 +2/3 EV Natural light
300m > July 18: Cat fancy Yesterday was a very busy day for me and today does not look much better. I ran most of the day, took 190 shots for a client that I still have not looked at. Come 10 last night I still did not have a POD. I had wanted to try a studio shot and this was the best I could do on short notice. I do have a thought for tonight. This is a glass figurine of a cat I bought my wife when I was on travel. To do this I build a black box out of mounting boards held together with tape :) (told you it was short notice) 3 sides and a bottom. Lighting is from a AAA celled LED flashlight that I was holding at various angles to get the shot and lighting I wanted. The only PP at all is I add my copyright in CS3. This is straight from the camera.
300m > June 16: Fishing for Lunch I was out walking at lunch yesterday when I saw this yellow crested night heron in the moat intently staring at the water. I took a few shots as I watched him/her watching something or lunch. He was so intent on lunch that I was able to get closer with my 200mm and get this shot. 300m > June 8: Begonia up close This little guy was out along the seawall on my walk yesterday. This was along the gazebo from my April pod. The lighting was a bit hard, but I crossed over and got the shot and I feel it came out well. Colors are nice for 12 noon shooting. 95 degrees, and humid, yes the dog days of summer are here. As I squatted down in the flower bed a few ants thought I was lunch. What we do to get a shot for pod :) Have a great day everyone
300m > April 13: Daisy Daisy, sing to my heart be true. I worked some more with the macro today as I had some plants to go in the ground and I was already muddy from planting :) My planned shot came out kind of flat so I am glad I took these with my daughter today. We both took pictures again today. This Cape series daisy is shot ~ 1.5:1 mag rate just as the sun came out on an overcast day. I had the camera on a tripod, but it was very windy and it took a lot of shot and a higher ISO than I wanted to capture the shot. 300m > June 29: Flower I saw this flower in the yard and thought it would make a good pod. I do not remember the name right now. To get the shot I was laying on my back shooting up at the plant as it is low to the ground. This is a focus stack of 3 shots to make the image I was after. I used the R1 flash ring on this shot with the on board flash off, A at -1.3 EV and B at 0 EV.

300m > June 26: On stage: Again from the hotel, this is gazebo - stage in in the Delta section of the Hotel. I liked the lighting at night and the way it reflected on the floor. This had a nice presence and made you feel good. I even took 2 other photo's for folks with their cameras when they were under this gazebo. I was only able to get 2 shots and this was the best as there was a line waiting to go here. I have a meeting in 30 min and then 2 hrs after that I get to so sit in airports for the day. I also learned last night I am now working this weekend for a Monday presentation. Oh the joys of a road trip. I hope to catch up with everyone and all the nice comments by the end of the weekend. Thanks to everyone and to some of the great comments and laughs you have given me. It really means a lot to be part of this daily community and get the support from everyone. This has helped me go get some shots when needed. Like now I will grab the camera before the meeting to see what I can get for pod and maybe even breakfast :) Have a great day everyone!!
