300m > June 25: Peace Easy Feeling "eagles"
I captured this shot of another of the 5-6 falls they have here in the Opriland hotel. Kathy, this is in delta along the boat ride. I took this from a reserved section that was not being used at the time as it gave me great view of the falls. I was carrying my tripod so I was able to get that smooth silky flow look from a long exposure. As it was night I did not need the ND filter. The light in the bottom of the pool is the only hot spot and cannot be helped, I tried.

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments, I tried to do some catch up last night after I finished todays brief, before I went to bed. I will catch a few more this AM and the rest when I return, I started a new job ~ 2 wks ago so the level of work and detail plus the learning is high right now.
Thanks and have a great week. PS, I got a note from my co-worker and she said thanks for the kinds words!
300m > July 15: Surreal view
During my walk yesterday I took a group of shots but with the hard lighting most were flat and lifeless. I had liked the lines and angles of the seawall in this shot and decided to try the surreal effect on the shot. I like the shot with this processing, Lightroom. I then moved into CS3 and added the border via a Dave Cross idea I came across that I wanted to try. I think it worked. I tried the black border, but did not like the effect.
300m > May 31: Lug Nuts
I was having my car worked on this morning, nail in the front tire. While I was waiting I was taking pictures and this shot caught my eye. I thought it would make a good B&W . I like the lines and the lack of colors in the original. There was good detail in the silver lug nuts and the table with the silver of weathered wood. I processed and did a gradient filter in CS3 with a selected midpoint for the break point of the conversion. I like the simplicity and the lines in the shot.

300m > June 23 Trouble in paridise
Quickly, when I got here to Nashville, 3 hrs late. My co worker got the news that her mother died. My boss & I spent the evening with her so I did not get much in pictures.
This is inside the hotel I am staying at, I grabbed this on the way to move the car and get out luggage. I have to take my coworker to the airport now to catch a flight home and go to the conference so I hope everyone understands. I will get comments when I can. I am behind in those and work now.
Have a good day
300m > May 21: psst did you hear the new????
2 seagulls I caught on the seawall walking today. They stayed long enough for me to snap 2 shots before they flew away. I was pleased with this shot, looked great. I caught lots of birds today on my walk. I had a tough time with the choices for today. I did a soft muted B&W heron as an alt, but we like this on the best.

For the record, I am NOT an American dingaling fan! I have heard fingernails dragged across the chalkboard that sounded better!
300m > May 3: Parade of Home Exterior View
This is an High Dynamic Range shot I took of the exterior of the house from the Parade of homes. This is a 7 shot compilation using Photomatix with very little else done in lightroom. This worked well as it was 1PM in the afternoon when I took the shot so the hard light worked to my advantage on the stonework of the house. The rest of the exterior shots are here, 6 total parade Exterior Both my sister and the builder are pleased and the builder is using some photo's on his site.

300m > June 12: Generals Gazebo
While walking at lunch yesterday I was able to get a shot of the backyard of yesterday's house. This is one area that is guarded quite well. I was on top of the moat walk, walkway around the moat buttress. When I looked over the wall I saw the gazebo that I have tried numerous times to get but have not been able to get a good picture. I worked my way around to a good vantage point and took some shots. You can see that I am shooting through trees and the grass on top of the moat. I was actually standing on my tip toes for this series of shot with the elbows for a tripod. I did a 5 shot HDR with -1 to +1 range for this picture. Added .5 exposure and +5 black to the shot. that it. Plus I was using the macro as a prime.

Per John's commant; I was actuall in open area. I was not in the restricted zone in the generals yard. I do know better than that having worked for Public Works here at Monoroe for 18 years before I moved on to HQ.
300m > April 29: Working with light.
I did this shot tonight after deciding to try a shot I say in a Nikon picture. Not the same but I like the results. I set this up using a trunk for a table and folded my tripod low. My wife told my daughter I was laying on the floor taking pictures :). I turned off all the lights sans the desktop here and setup the SB200 flashes off the R1 to see what I could do. I set one to bounce behind the trunk on group A, with a blue gel on the lens and hand held another on group B with a red gel. I varied the -ev settings till I got this shot that I was happy with. I was using the Capture control Pro again, tethered to my desktop so I could see my results full screen. That works to those that have never tried it.

300m > July 3: Field of Flowers?
On the way back from shopping last night we stopped at the Bass Pro Shops to get some Archery supplies. My daughter tried the shooting game in the store as she has never shot a gun. She had fun :), saw some huge fish they had in the tank there. When we exited the store I saw a great sunset so I grabbed the camera and we went for a walk. Could not get a clear shot of the sunset, but this is the walkway leading to the boat section of the bass pro shop. I go down on top of this rock and took the picture using my fist as a brace for the camera, 1/10 sec exposure. I like the angle and the view. Added 20 clarity and 5 black in LR and copyright in PS
Happy 4th everyone!
10 min later photographing the fountian I lost my lens hood in the lake to the left of this shot. Seems it was not tight and I feed the ducks. They kept looking down at the water and then at me so I know where it went :( B&H here I com.
