300m > May 24: Nonareil's
I was struggling on what to use today when my wife suggested there that my daughter uses on her ice cream. I used the macro and ran a 3 shot sequence through a focus stack to get them all in focus.

have a great weekend everyone.
Seems this got loaded twice, so Gail missed the description.
300m > June 18: Can you guess what this is?
I did my usual walk at lunch, but was not happy with any of the miriad of shots I had taken so at 9PM I started looking for a picture of the day. I grabbed the macro and setup the R1 flash system on the lens and started hunting shots. I took several, got some nice shots of glasses, but with a macro they really need to be clean and not dusty like the ones in our china cabinet. Guess I know what I am doing tomorrow night, washing crystal.
I found this item that is used on something that has been pictured on more than one POD that I have seen. This is a close up shot, 1:1 of the item, toward one end of it.

I see there are a lot of hit, but no correct guess. It is leather and it is tooled. It is long and narrow and not a belt
I will answer more questions later tonight as I am super busy at work. I have to finish a briefing in 10 min for a 1-3 presentation. I beleive there is a shot of it on my site
300m > April 28: Parade of Homes, Keeping room
This is a room from the parade of home I shot this weekend. I just finished all 200 shots and have uploaded to my site for my sister and her partner. Anne was pleased today so I am pleased! The house is fantastic, the ladies did excellent work on this house. They won last year BTW in 3/3 categories. This room is called a keeping room and the fireplace to the right goes through to the outside with glass on both sides. I have a shot on the site I will open up Thursday

300m > March 26: This shot looked interesting this morning. I spent the day inspecting buildings and photographing faults in our buildings so most of my shots from today are boring. I saw these trees on top of the moat walk and took the shot. Rather bland so I added some effects in Lightroom (LR). I cropped the shot as the street signs and stop light were a bit ugly in the picture. [This was a snap shot between buildings and not something I planned out.] In LR I added 2 presets. First I did Matt's midnight dark and then I added Matt's Vividity level 1 to bring the tree detail out. To this I added .25 on the exposure for the tree also. FYI, Matt is Matt Kloskowski, he does the killer LR tips and is part of the Photoshop TV crew
300m > April 1: Pine cone buds along the moat walk. I was out walking today looking for something for the daily photo and saw this pine tree in bloom. I stopped to take the shots and selected this one from the bunch. The shot is the bane of all allergy suffers as all that great yellow stuff comes from here.

300m > June 19: "You can't take my picture!"
I got to take a break at lunch yesterday, we are working hard for the summit meeting next week. While out walking near the marina I saw this trio of ducks. What is intreating is that my initial plan had been building and overall shots. I had the 18-35mm wide on the camera. So trying to get up close with the ducks was a bit hard. Hence the crop on this shot These 3 let me get a little close while bobbing for lunch. They were funny to watch, looked like the animated dolls you see in some windows. The one in the middle is different as she has blue feathers in two other shots. I liked how I caught the water splashing as he ducked to get some food. I used a shallow depth of field, f/5.0, to keep a minimum area in focus
Thanks to Kurt for the correction on the Ducks!
300m > I had a few macro shots prepared for today I went out to dispose of the trash and saw the full moon and a clear sky. I figured I would give this a shot. I went back into the house and got my camera, mounted the 70-200 VR and grabbed my tripod. I took a bracket of 4 and this was the best of the lot. Shot is cropped a lot as the lens is only a 200mm and most people use 400mm or bigger for this. I ended up talking to my neighbor in the process and explaining the shot of the day and what is involved in taking pictures like this.

300m > May 15: Child with a cat
I captured this scene when I was walking today. I thought this was a good shot for the day. This was a young boy that was with his parents at the marina and the cat was at the marina office.
300m > May 7 Some time you feel like a nut other times you don't
Orange. I got this idea while looking at sheepshot's site. I took an orange and suspended it in front of the light box (Thanks Oliver) and took a shot with a single SB200 flash lighting the back of the orange to show the texture of the inside fruit. I used my 105 as a prime for this shot to get a lot of orange in the picture. Took a few shots to get the internal focus right to show the veining of the fruit. Thought this would be different as my only daily shot from work was that same Heron from yesterday I saw today along the bay. Not as good as he got spooked real easy today.
