300m > April 3: I am late tonight in uploading as I had taken no pictures today by 6PM and realized I was late. I got out my macro lens and took a few pictures. Of the arrangement I bought my wife Saturday most are dead with this and a few stragglers still living. This was the best of all the shots I took of various items. Some showed dust, oops, others flashback. Shot against a black foam core with available light, daylight compact fluorescent tube. EXIF D200 ISO 200 1.6 sec electronic trigger f/16
300m > May 14 : Otter I was out late tonight taking pictures for a client. I was not able to get an acceptable POD so I am using this picture of the otter my daughter and I took last Friday. Great shot and I am happy with this. I am just to tired to do any more tonight. Enjoy the shot. EXIF D200, 70-200 VR 1/60, f/4.0, ISO 125
300m > April 9: Flowing water, the water of life. I am still on travel here in Huntsville and a local teaching the class told me I should visit Monroe State park in the mountain before sunset. So I ventured up there after class, stopped at the scenic overlook took a few pictures and then proceeded to the park. I was walking around admiring the view when I heard the water. I followed the rocky path down the steep bluff and was able to catch a few shots of this water from the side. Best view was from the front, but that was a 100' drop so.... This zoomed shot was the best of the lot as there are 2 small trees just to the left of this shot. Thankfully I had the foresight to bring the baby tripod, (monfronto modo) with me this trip and had it in the car. To get the smooth effect I used manual mode and a low ISO. As this is a point and shot type I do not have ND or polarizer for the camera. I am glad the shot was worth the effort to get as I was in dress cloths and shoes, twisted my ankle walking down the trail to get this shot. 300m > June 25: #2 Gaylord's Opriland Hotel, Cascades section As I mentioned earlier, I am having net access problems and I have found that I have more work to do here than I thought! Worked till 7 PM tonight at the meeting, from 7:30 AM and have to be in at 7:00 tomorrow AM. The work is twice what I expected. I took this after the meeting and tried to show the inside of the Cascade section of the hotel. There are 5 area's with a canal and a boat ride in the Delta section I am in. I will post more photo's when I get home and get a good connection. It it taking ~2 min a comment and ~ 8 to upload a photo LOL, Tom!! You would think. This hotel is next door to the grand ole Opri
300m > May 6: Bird on the moat wall I caught this "Yellow Crowned Night heron" (Thanks Gail!) standing on the moat wall on my way back to the gym after walking. He kept turning his head watching me but let me take his photo. I was actually leaning over the fence with the camera to get this final shot hence the weird angle. 300m > July 1: White Rose This is one of the roses I got my wife for her birthday. I worked late yesterday and through lunch so I had no shots from a walk to even review. With traffic I got home after 6 and went to shoot arrows for an hour so come 8 I had no pictures. I tried some macro's of the roses, but they just do not have the detail at this level of magnification. They look great under the microscope at 15:1 :) This one is a focus stack of 3 to get all the areas in focus. White is hard to focus on at 11 at night and get right. Dual flash setup with the R1. One on the ring at -1/3 and one on a light stand shooting down at -1.3 EV
300m > May 9: The American Bald Eagle My daughter and I spent the day together today. This morning we toured the Living museum. I got ~ 85 pictures today and my daughter filled her memory card with 151 pictures. This is one of the two bald eagles in the museum that I was able to photograph. Very majestic looking bird. We got lots of great pictures and I am sure you will get to see more of these shots. I got some great bird shots and I will display one tomorrow and the rest in the gallery. I used my big lens today to get most of these shots. EXIF D200 70-200 mm f/2.8 VR lens with VR and AF on ISO 400 1/60 sec @ f/4.0, 135mm, -1/3 EV As Nick asked these birds are here to recover from an injury. 300m > May 18: Carvin DC127 in Flamed Koa I have been wanting to get a shot of this guitar for a while now and I saw my chance this morning. I took the shot in my backyard using the ground as a background. I really love the wood on this guitar. The wood is flamed Koa from Hawaii. Guitar is a Carvin DC127 with dual humbuckers and an acoustic bridge. EXIF: D200 18-200 lens at 43mm ISO 160 1/640 f/6.3 Natural light
300m > May 22: Rose Trio I decided to do something different tonight. I did not have a shot I was happy with and I have been wanting to do some more work with this gradient method I learned from Gerry (Dreamhat). So we have tonight's shot of the variegated roses that I brought into photoshop and worked in layers. This is an easy one to do, only 3 layers. I took the background layer and applied a gradient mask, adding a grey point to get the effect I wanted. I then took the background copy and moved it to the top and using an inverted layer mask opened up the leaves in the background. I then dropped the opacity to 18% to give just a hint of green to this B&W shot. 3rd layer is my copyright.
