300m > July 16: Hold it there buddy you are in my space! While out walking yesterday at lunch I saw a duck, goose in the moat and this little guy in the tree. He was giving me the warning with his tail and whipping it madly as I got closer to take the shot, I was in his space. I took several pictures of him, but they were real tough as he was backlit by a large area of sun. I spot metered and pushed the exposure to get this shot and then cropped to remove the big white sky in the upper area. The green is the green grass of the field behind the tree. The I did some color correction in CS3 to pull the green cast out. This took 2 curves to remove all the little guys color cast. Remove to much green and the shot goes red.
300m > July 20: Water Lilly The family and I were out running errands yesterday and when we came out of the bass pro shops I saw this lilly in the pond in front of the store. I grabbed my camera and did the best I could to get some shots. Worst time of day for the shots at 2PM, hot, bright, humid and trying to get around a display in the parking lot :) Lets just say I burnt myself when I attempted to sit on the edge for a better angle. This gave me an even better apperiation for Gerry's (Dreamhat) Lilly shots. These are hard to shoot and capture with any class like he does. The yellow wanted to blow out in the noon day sun.
300m > May 10: Flowers in the Rain. This morning was rainy and overcast so when there was a break in the rain I went out to see the new flowers that are blooming under our weeping cherry. I was able to capture this shot this morning after breakfast and before my daughter and I went out for a "short" trip. Glad I did as we returned much later than I figured. This shot is a focus stack of 2 shots. I tried 4 shots but the halo effect from the out of focus palp was a bit much to deal with. I liked the water on the pedals (my back too from the cherry tree overhead). EXIF D200, tripod mounted 105 mm VR in manual mode 1/60 sec f/11.0 ISO 125 0EV Natural light, no reflectors
300m > March 19: I was unsure what to take for pictures today Took a few and was not happy with some of the shots. While waiting for better light tonight the man in the brown truck showed up with my new macro lens. This is the 1st picture I took with the lens that was in focus. harder than I thought to use Natural light tripod mounted, 2.5:1 ratio I believe
300m > July 10: Inspection time! The rain took a break yesterday during lunch and I was able to take a late lunch and walk. I need my walk as it gets me out of the building and away from work for a little while. This gives me some sanity back to recharge for the afternoon. B&H delivered so I was able to use my 18-200mm again at lunch as I had a sunshade for the lens again. (After I let my other go for a swim while getting my DP last Sat.) I took a group of shots but came up on this flower at the close of my walk. I do not normally go this way as it is a blind curve and the bed is on the curve, but I took a chance and grabbed the shot. I liked the line of ants in the shot and the white lattice on house. Yes the house is that close, hence why I do not like going this way as it hard to get out of cars way. Simple shot all done in Lightroom. Sig in PS. PS, thanks to everyone for the comments on the SP. It is like going in through the out door :) I d prefer to be the photograpeher not the photographed.
300m > captured while on travel. Lake next to the place I was working at. Last 6 are from the same location. good lighting that day.
300m > May 23: Dude what are you doing in my space?? I caught this little guy while walking today. He came scampering up to me while I was photographing some others and birds. I was amazed that he came this close as I was using the 105 macro as a prime. This is a hand held shot using the macro as a prime lens. EXIF D200 105mm macro ISO 125 1/125 sec f/7.1 +1/3 EV
300m > June 4 Lilly I am home today as our hot water heater has a serious issue. I just got told that my gas valve and burner is bad. As the unit is 15 years old I fear we will have to spend more than we want to. As I was home I noticed that our asiatic lilies were blooming so I took some pictures. I liked this one. These are all around my condensing unit outside and the water is from the drip pan of the house unit. So I got water on the flower as a by product of air conditioning my home :) This shot is also a focus stack of 3 shots I took with the macro. 300m > June 20: A swirl of Colors This would make a good can you guess. But as not many people use this item then I do not think you would guess the item. It is polycabonate and tooled to this shape and polished. It is round, and I use one daily at work. It is related to an item that is on my site. This group of item everyone uses, just the the type they do not However 50-60 years ago they did. Also it fits in my pocket. This is a macro shot of the item. Give up?? Fountain Pen. This is the cap to a Bexley Fountain Pen that I use. I have a Namiki Hawk and a Pelican M200 also. I will do the hawk some day as the silver is tough. to get right and the engraved hawks are exquisite. Yesterday I waited to long to do the POD, I was with my daughter most of the day and we did some errands and got a new Xbox game for her sleep over. Some dance mat game she wanted, she is happy so I am happy! 9 rolls around and I have taken zero picture, so I grabbed the trusty macro and figured easy shot. HA! I tried some glasses and the reflections and details were Yuck. bottom line, I took 68 pictures to get this shot. This one I had to block all light as the polished surface was reflecting off the white background, the ceiling and even the l;ow room light. In the end I use 2 SB200 flashes on the stands (R1 system) and a black foam core board to block the light and another to set the pen on. Group A was at -1.3EV, left and right was at -.7 EV
